Talking with Empire Ridley Scott let a few things out of the Alien prequel bag… but only a very few.
“It’s a brand new box of tricks,” said Sir Ridley. “We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior.”
Does the ‘brand new box of tricks’ thing mean that we won’t be seeing the tale of the giant pilot who was found dead on LV-246 at the beginning of the original? I hope so, since some mysteries just never need to be solved.
Of course the Alien prequel is one of the 78 projects on the plate of the very elderly filmmaker, so I’m not really holding my breath either way.
