Now that even those hacks at MTV have gotten sick of asking Will Arnett over and over again about the Arrested Development movie, movement has actually begun on the project. After years of talk, rumors and whispers, the Hollywood Reporter is Hollywood reporting that creator Mitchell Hurwitz and co-exec producer James Vallely have begun writing a script. That’s something Hurwitz said he wouldn’t do unless all the main actors were willing to come back.
What does a script mean? Not much, considering the fragile landscape of recession-era filmmaking and the busy schedules of many of the show’s stars. But it does offer hope that a movie version of the beloved TV series could be underway within a year, if all the stars align properly.
