Danny Huston has joined Al Pacino, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman on You Don’t Know Jack, the planned biopic of assisted suicide pioneer Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Barry Levinson is directing the pic that follows the rise of Kevorkian (Pacino) as he builds his
Mercy Machine and sets out to perform assisted suicides. Huston
will play Geoffrey Fieger, Kevorkian’s longtime attorney. Huston was most recently seen as William Stryker in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and will also be featured in the upcoming Robin Hood and Clash of the Titans.
Joely Richardson has joined the cast of Showtime’s The Tudors. In a five-episode arc on the show’s fourth and final season,
Richardson will portray Catherine Parr, Henry VIII’s (Jonathan Rhys
Meyers) sixth and last wife. Richardson is still a regular on FX’s Nip/Tuck and will also be seen in the upcoming Day of the Triffids remake. Richarson is the younge sister of Natasha Richardson, who died tragically this year after a skiing-related head injury.
Not so much a casting note as a sign of the apocalypse, Sean “Diddy” Combs says he’s still waiting for his dream role: to become the first black James Bond. Said Combs on the matter: “Nobody’s called me back yet. Bond people, I’m here waiting. My number’s listed. I’m waiting to get a crack.”
Javier Bardem has departed the planned Wall Street sequel, tentatively titled Money Never Sleeps, just a month before production commences. Bardem was due to take on the role of a risk-taking hedge fund manager,
but casting bosses will now be looking for a replacement as the star
has confirmed he has quit the project. Michael Douglas will be reprising his role of Gordon Gekko and Shia Labeouf will play an ambitious trader who’s engaged to Gekko’s daughter. Bardem’s representative claims Bardem “loves Oliver Stone” but has had “five or six other offers.”
Tabrett Bethell will join Legend of the Seeker in Season 2 as a regular, and Charisma Carpenter will guest star in the season premiere. Bethell will be returning as Cara, a Mord’Sith who creates trouble between Richard (Craig Horner) and Kahlan (Bridget Regan). Meanwhile, Carpenter will be portraying Triana, a wicked Mord’Sith. Carpenter just wrapped up Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables.
Shirley Jones will be guest starring on Ruby and the Rockits as the mother to real life stepson David and son Patrick Cassidy. The comedy is exec produced by other son Shaun Cassidy and stars David and Patrick as onetime pop
sensations whose lives change when David’s character discovers he has a
teenage daughter (Alexa Vega). Said Shaun Cassidy about how Jones got the role: “She slept with the producer,” he tells TVGuide.com. “Although in her
defense, I was two years old at the time and afraid of the dark.”
