Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, you might have heard, features Heath Ledger’s final performance. As the film’s Cannes premiere approaches, that fact is being trumpeted in Cannes Fest features left and right. Yet there hasn’t been much actual info on the film that carries us past what we already knew.
Finally, though, amid conflicting reports that the movie is better and/or worse than expected, we’ve got a few new photos. L’express has a great image of Ledger and Lily Cole, while one of the Johnny Depp fansites (via the Playlist) has scans from a French mag featuring not only Ledger, but some of the only decent images we’ve seen of his three replacements, Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell and a new image of Christopher Plummer as Doctor Parnassus.
What about the chances of seeing any footage soon? Depends on what happens with potential distribution deals. The movie is showing late in the game at Cannes, which is bad, as a lot of buyers may have bailed on the fest by then. But there is a screening in NYC before the film hits the festival, and Anne Thompson says Sony Pictures Classics will catch it there.
