First thing I thought when I woke up this morning was, “I’d really love to see a photo of Christopher Plummer looking like an old, bearded Mola Ram.” And here it is. Along with full-on images of Heath Ledger, Tom Waits, Lily Cole and Verne Troyer, there’s this new image of Plummer in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
I love how utterly insane this movie looks. We thought Gilliam had gone for broke before (see: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Tideland, pretty much everything else) but this one is almost off the charts.
That might be why there’s no distro deal for the US yet. Despite early reports that Lionsgate and Overture were courting the producers, there’s been no good news. So that reported September 24 release date may have been a little bit premature. But what the hey, when your dead leading man now has an Oscar balanced on top of his halo, you’ve got to ask for a little something extra. No reason to sell this one short just so we can all see it, right?
These images are branded Quick Stop Entertainment, but not even my Parnassus google alert could point to the origin page on that site, so I pulled them from this here blog.
EDIT: Thanks for those who wrote in to say that these are just pulled from the video file that Quick Stop hosted ages and ages ago. I thought a couple looked familiar, but had to wrap this up fast to make a screening. Apologies for the confusion, assuming there was any.
