I realize that Forest Whitaker has absolutely nothing to do with the new John Curran film, The Beautiful and the Damned, but I had an extraneous picture floating about and I had to get rid of it. Actually, if anyone symbolizes beauty it’s Forest Whitaker, so enjoy!
Anyway, John Curran (The Painted Veil) has been tapped to direct the latest Keira Knightley period piece, this one revolving around the tumultuous relationship between F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife, Zelda Sayre (Knightley). Known for their wild life during the Jazz-soaked 20’s, the up-and-down relationship these two had often found its way into Fitzgerald’s writing.
It seems Hollywood is becoming fascinated with Fitzgerald. Between the critical success The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has garnered, and a potential Baz Luhrmann The Great Gatsby remake (probably with people singing and dancing all over the place), it appears to be the perfect time for a pseudo biopic of the man whom many consider one of the greatest American writers.
As of now Knightley is the only cast member, and unless they intend on making a one woman film they might want to hurry if they plan on making their March production start. Might I suggest Mr. Whitaker for F. Scott?
