Speaking of insane projects, earlier this year I had the supreme pleasure of writing a piece that mentioned an upcoming film from maestro Alejandro Jodorowsky. Titled King Shot, the film is meant to be a metaphysical spaghetti western with gangsters, starring Nick Nolte and Mickey Rourke (we’ll see if that actually happens in the wake of The Wrestler) and with photography by Vilmos Zsigmond.
Now AICN points to a production featurette on YouTube that features loads of pre-production art and design. Check out that golf cart pulled by ostriches and carrying a massive gun, or the zombie pope, or the massive head of Christ that looks like it could be some sort of temple. What the hell is this movie? Does it matter?
Jodorowsky is obviously delusional — he claims that all the young people are waiting for his new film, which will be a massive commercial success — but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We need a lot more crackpots like him making movies. Now join me in fervently hoping this actually comes to fruition.
