Have we all seen the new music video for Jamie Foxx’s “Blame it”? If not check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYc875zkDxg
Now I don’t have any issues with the song. Actually, its kinda catchy…even if Foxx is doing the whole vo-coding voice throughout the whole thing. And hey, as far as I’m concerned you can never have too much T-Pain (He’s on a boat!)
My issue is with the “supporting cast” in this video. First, why are they even in the video? They get out of the car at the beginning and then we just see them here and there in the video sitting around bobbing their heads to the music. That’s it. Jake Gyllenhaal, okay he can be there. Forrest Whitaker…a bit of a stretch for me to believe he hangs out with Jamie Foxx but I’m willing to let it go.
Samuel L. Jackson hanging out in a club with women around him? I know the guy is married, but I honestly thought that was what SLJ did in his spare time between movies, so we’re good to go there.
And then…there’s Ron Howard. Ron FREAKIN Howard? What is Richie Cunningham doing in this music video? Listen, the world has rules. Rules that have been agreed on in advance by all of us who live in society. And I am pretty sure rule #452 is : Ron Howard will never appear in a rap or hip hop music video.
Its there, trust me. Check your handbooks. Its right after rule #451: We won’t wear white after Labor Day (I still don’t get why this is a rule). And it comes right before rule #453: Thou shall not wear socks with sandals (we need to crack down on violations of this more. We’ve gotten soft.)
Seeing Ron Howard in this video was less ridiculous than Jamie Foxx dancing around with the panda bear head on. Seriously, that was normal compared to seeing Opie (the original) step out of that car.
Please people, we need to increase our awareness. Don’t let this happen again. Next time someone could get hurt.
