Holy cow. I never imagined the size and sheer vertical scale of a Mad Max film could be so large. I’m reminded quite strongly of id’s post-apocalyptic shooter Rage, which wasn’t a great game, but nevertheless created a beautiful world. I love that this is a sharp and rusty world full of cages and spikes. It’s got crazy villains with flamethrower guitars riding on mobile stages that double as death machines. I don’t think I’ve seen anything this completely batshit in years. I love it.
And because it’s directed by George Miller, you know all of this mayhem will make sense. Sequences of utter insanity will come together coherently. That’s what excites me most about Fury Road.
May 15. What a lovely day.
