To celebrate the tenth game in the Mortal Kombat series, NetherRealm Studios has announced that Crystal Lake’s best goalie Jason Voorhees will be a playable character in it. Which is probably a great idea, as Jason will make for a great beat ’em up character. Sadly, he won’t be part of the standard edition. In order to don the iconic hockey mask and grab the machete you’ll have to get one of four available special editions or separately purchase the Kombat Pack DLC, which goes for $29.99. Aside from Jason, the pack includes three new skins and three additional characters, two of them being Mortal Kombat characters.
Jason is not the first playable movie character in a MK game. The last game had Freddy Krueger to offer. Now how cool would it be if NetherRealm Studios made a similar game with all sorts of horror movie characters? Imagine having a tag team of Jason and Death Bed: The Bed That Eats taking on Graboid and Bruce the shark. There could be lots of unlockables and amazing fatalities. The common Mortal Kombat X will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on April 14, and later on for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Oh, and there’s actually a Friday the 13th game coming, but don’t get your hopes up. It’ll be a low budget version of Evolve, with one player being Jason and the others as teenagers trying to survive.
