And the Inglorious Bastards train keeps a-rolling, sometimes right over your hopes and dreams. As will inevitably be the case when a movie tries to thrash it’s way into production, scheduling conflicts will arise. With respect to Bastards, the latest casualty of conflict is Simon Pegg. Tarantino was courting him to play the Brit lieutenant Archie Hicox, but in a blog post Pegg says it can’t happen. “We really tried to make it work,” he says, “but in the end, it just was not possible without severe ramifications elsewhere.”
But wait. What was that about blog posts? As the inimitable Philip Chan says, “there’s two of them!” And the other one is good.
You remember the script Paul that Pegg and Nick Frost have written? The road movie about two British geeks traveling to a west coast comic book convention? (With Frost playing the dom and Pegg the bitch.) Superbad‘s Greg Mottola will direct the flick…not David Schwimmer, as IMDB would have you believe. That particular blog post is pretty concise: “GREG MOTTOLA WILL BE DIRECTING PAUL!!!!!” Which is all you need, really.
