The Premise: It’s Monty Python’s Silly Walks THE GAME!!! – Everyone who loves Monty Python loves the classic Ministry of Silly Walks sketch. It’s a Python staple and a brilliant example of absurdist humor, awkward comedy and everything that made Monty Python great and revolutionary. This game is simply meant to give you a bit of a laugh. It may not be the best collect the items, side-scroller in town, but it sure as hell beats Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
The Hook: You are John Cleese. Congratulations! – You start the game sitting at your desk in The Ministry of Silly Walks. You then get up and silly walk the hell out of there only to dodge obstacles, collect coins and gain power-ups as you venture forth through London. The audio features new recordings of John Cleese making funny noises and talking smack. It’s great fun.
The Gameplay: “It’s not particularly silly, is it.” – First off, I have to say that I love this game regardless of its problems. Here are the issues: poor controls and hit detection, items that are easily wasted and enemies that are exceedingly unpredictable. The gameplay can be very frustrating at times. As long as you have patience and a good sense of humor, it’s worth it.
Should You Get It: Ask yourself, “Do I love Monty Python?” – If you have a spare dollar in your pocket, buy this game. John Cleese has publically stated that he is no longer able to perform the Silly Walks sketch due to knee and hip replacement. The man produced this for godsakes. Give him your money.
