The Fury (no, it’s not a remake of the Brian De Palma adaptation of John Farris’ novel, although that is happening over at Fox) is one movie that’s practically come out of nowhere. When the first bit of news broke it already had a full cast, writer/director, synopsis, poster, and distributor. So what the hell is it about, you may ask?
Well, when the weather takes a turn for the worse, a group of teenagers seek refuge in an abandoned slaughterhouse. Naturally, the damned place is rumored to be haunted by a malevolent poltergeist. Eventually, one of the adolescents is mysteriously enveloped in the throes of a rage and tries to knock off their pals one by one.
Wish I could give you guys a sneak-peek on this one, but the filmmakers have seen fit to post everything other than an actual teaser on their official site; the actual shooting hasn’t commenced yet.
James Colmer, best known around Tinseltown for doing conceptual art for such films as House of Wax, 2005 and See No Evil, makes his producing/writing/directing debut on this one.
Erica Leerhsen (Wrong Turn 2, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 2003, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2) top-lines a cast that includes Holly Brisley, Patrick Nuo, Sam Lawson and August Lacore.
If Leerhsen adds a few more genre credits to her resume we’ll have to anoint her the title of Scream Queen!
The most interesting part of the casting, though, is YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO BE IN IT! That’s right, if you’ve ever dreamed about an acting career, or even simply having a cameo on a lark this is your chance. All you have to do is tell Destiny Pictures Australia in 25 words or less why you think The Fury will be the most terrifying film you’ve ever seen. The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to “The Location” as a featured extra in the film.
Sound cool? Head over to the official site to throw your hat into the ring.
