If you were to ask a fan of the Witchblade comic what was missing from the TNT TV series, he’d probably tell you ‘Tits.’ Of course, if you were to ask a fan of the Witchblade comic what was missing from Iron Giant, he’s probably tell you ‘Tits.’ These people aren’t exactly deep. Or smart. Or discerning.
A movie version of the bafflingly long-lived comic book from Top Cow could solve that whole ‘Not enough tits’ dilemma; the story of a hot woman who wields an ancient weapon that requires her to run around essentially half naked will be coming to the big screen thanks to the folks behind the TV show Jeremiah, Platinum Studios (they also have Cowboys and Aliens and the Dylan Dog adaptation Dead of Night on their slate).
The film will probably be shot in Australia (co-producers Arclight Films are local), but there’s no word on who will be writing or directing the thing. The hordes of Witchblade fans don’t care, though – they’ve already begun bulk buying hand lotion.
It’s worth noting that the Variety article about this film talks about Top Cow’s other movie property, Wanted, which is hitting this summer – the trade claims Will Eisner created that comic, which is sort of hilarious if you’ve read the original.
