Wow, get a load of these things. Italian artist (I’m fairly certain) Massimo Carnavale has been producing these fantastic illustrated portraits of film characters for some time, building up quite the collection of cool work. Unfortunately there hasn’t been a post since December (they seem to have been coming at about one or two a month before that), but hopefully the artists is just taking some time off and will get back to it soon.

If you check out the blog from which these originate, you can trace the evolution of MC’s style and see the experimentation that flows throughout. Some of these are directly lifted compositionally from stills or movie scenes, while others are more interpretive. The source films are also wide-ranging, from contemporary to classic movies with the work of many countries represented. I’ve really enjoyed perusing them.

Below are a dozen or so of my favorites, but you should really explore the site and see the rest…

I’ve sent a request for some info to the artist, but haven’t heard back yet. If I do, I’ll get it up right away.
