This time the Amazing Spider-Man 2 director provides a vague, contextless image of the eyes on Spidey’s new mask (pictured). This is much ado about nothing, but I kind of dig when directors or publications reveal these minute tidbits before a production. If this were 1995 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were the first Spider-Man film to ever be released (stay with me here) I’d fixate on this image for hours on end, imagining a live action Spider-Man out in the real world. As is, it’s still kind of cool, but par for the course in an age where we’re already rebooting comic book characters some of us never thought we’d get to see on a big screen in the first place.

The folks over at Omelete have a comparison for those reaching to see the difference from the last film:

Yeah, I’ll cop to digging the new threads. Here’s hoping Amazing 2 embraces simplicity and employs a less busy, hyper-detailed suit than the previous effort. Spidey-on-film has never looked like something a teenager with limited means could scrounge together in his spare time, but anything that reminds me of Steve Ditko’s classic take on the character is A-OK in this early stage.

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
