http://chud.com/nextraimages/logansrunbook.gifProps to Latino Review, who called this one back in May: commercial director Joseph Kosinski has been tapped to direct the remake (or re-adaptation) of Logan’s Run, the film that Bryan Singer left to fail at Superman Returns.

Kosinski is probably best known for the Gears of War commercial that uses Mad World on the soundtrack; Logan’s Run would be his first feature film. Kosinski’s film will be closer to the book than the fantastic 1976 film was, and it’ll be more low-tech than most modern sci-fi. According to Hollywood Reporter, this version will be heavily influenced by Hot Fuzz:

The new film will tackle idea of the "greater good" and people devoting themselves to an ideology blindly, while keeping the novel’s concepts of runners, Sanctuary and gangs outside the system.

Will Kosinski be the one to finally get this film made? I should probably just have a macro on my computer that inserts ‘strike film’ into articles these days, but that impending work stoppage could be one of the reasons why this film, which has gone through a number of directors (and which Kosinski was attached to in rumor months ago) has finally started taking off.
