Since Comic-Con we’ve known Ant-Man –to be directed by Edgar Wright from his script written with Joe Cornish– is an official part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe roadmap, and would be made in the second “Phase” of The Avengers timeline. Conspisciously absent with announcement though, was the release date that ever other Marvel film left the con bearing. Once it became clear that Wright would in fact squeeze in this third Blood & Ice Cream film before filming Ant-Man, the film’s debut was really up in the air.

That’s changed! Now Marvel has an official release date for Ant-Man… November 5th, 2015.

What you may immediately notice is that falls after the May 1st, 2015 release date of The Avengers 2. That was partly to be expected considering how long they’ve taken to get this set, but it’s still interesting confirmation that Ant-Man will be the first “Phase 3” film, taking place in the wake of the second Avengers film. Will the character perhaps make his debut in The Avengers or an earlier film, maybe even having some signficant part to play in the team-up sequel? Too early to tell.

Here’s the timeline as it stands now:

Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013

Thor: The Dark World on November 8, 2013

Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014

Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1, 2014

The Avengers on May 1st, 2015

Ant-Man on November 5th, 2015
