The Pitch

Toss a Jack Hill film, Creature From The Black Lagoon, and a pinch of Lovecraft into a blender.  And then mix in a gallon of diarrhea.

The Humans

Director Stuart Simpson.  Norman Yemm, Nelli Scarlet, Karli Madden, Kate Watts, etc.

The Nutshell

The blurb on the cover art above says it all:  Killer Vixens vs. The Creature From The Deep.  We follow a trio of murderous ladies who end up in a seaside town that lives in fear of said beastie.  Naturally, they piss the monster off.  People die.

The pre-title sequence is in B&W.

The Lowdown

I try to be as professional as possible when doing these reviews, especially when it comes to low budget fare.  While I don’t give any allowances when it comes to the final score, I do try to be understanding when evaluating the film itself.  That said?  This is one of the worst pieces of shit that I have ever seen.  The performances are horrendous from top to bottom and the script is even worse.  Horror fans like myself can be extremely forgiving of this type of fare as long as two requirements are met:  style and cool-looking monster.  The first is non-existent, as the direction is largely uninspired.  As for the monster?  While not “cool-looking”, at least the FX are charmingly low-grade.  Beyond that, El Monstro del Mar has no redeeming qualities.  I’d prattle on a bit longer, but this one really isn’t worth the effort.

The Monstro del Mar.

The Package

We were only given a caseless screener copy.  While the actual release version apparently contains a nice amount of special features, I do not have the ability to evaluate them.
