I’d love to be in Philly this weekend for Jay-Z’s Budweiser Made In America festival, as a concert packed with acts like Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Run DMC, Odd Future, DJ Shadow, Mike Snow, and Pearl Jam sounds like a good time  (hey, I like at least four of them).

Fortunately, I won’t have to bust ass Northward on short notice because good ole Ron Howard, along with partners Brian Grazer and Hova himself, will be producing a documentary about the festival. Said to be more than just a concert doc, the film will look into Jay-Z’s relationship with the other acts and create a “reflection of the fabric of what it means to be Made In America.”

This pitch is definitely pumped full of corporate inspirational buzzwords, but having so much enjoyed a few concert documentaries with interesting approaches lately, I’m in a good mood to be excited by the possibilities. @radical.media is also involved, which promises good things if you’re a fan of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster or Jay-Z’s Fade To Black.

That’s really all there is for now- hopefully some chewers will be jamming out in Philly this weekend, and the rest of us will catch up when the doc hits sometime next year.
