The Tribeca Film Festival is starting up in a couple of days, and we have a cool opportunity for some New York City area Chewers to attend a movie premiere that sounds like it’s going to be pretty amazing. No, it’s not a movie that will be filled with stars, and it’s probably not even a movie you were aware of – but the venue and the way that the film is being shown are what should be grabbing your attention.
The movie is Passio, and here’s how the Festival program describes it: This extraordinarily powerful film sets the music of Arvo Pärt’s Passio—which has been called one of the last masterpieces of 20th Century music—against images carefully chosen from the billions created during the tumultuous century since the moving image first appeared. Its declared ambition is to manifest the neglected or repressed memory of the human race during this era.
That’s pretty interesting, but here’s where it gets awesome: the premiere is at the gorgeous Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and the music will be played live. This is the kind of a high class date night your girlfriend or wife has been clamoring for – how can you pass it up?
I have five pairs of tickets for this Friday, April 27 at 8pm. Send me an email at devin@chud.com with PASSIO in the subject line, and do it fast! I need to send these out next day in less than 48 hours.
Don’t miss this incredible opportunity!
