Angelina Jolie is going to be a bad girl when she stars alongside James McAvoy in the big screen adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book Wanted. The actress has taken on the role of The Fox, the assassin who teaches McAvoy’s Wes the business of being a bad guy. At least that’s how it was in the comic – I think the movie may have jettisoned much of the supervillainry from the story, and the character of The Fox has been rewritten to fit Jolie, so all bets are off.
I don’t know what changes have been made for Jolie, but I assume at least one of them is skin color; in the comic The Fox is obviously patterned, physically, after Halle Berry. Although who knows – Jolie is running around like Jolson in A Mighty Heart, playing the widow of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.
Wanted starts shooting in just a couple of weeks with Night Watch director Timur Bekmambetov at the helm. It’ll be shooting in Eastern Europe, so if you’re an orphan in any of those former Soviet countries, up the cuteness factor… Jolie may have just adopted another urchin, but you know that she’s not about to stop when Madonna’s just getting into the game.
