George Clooney will be lending the mellifluous tones of the sexiest vocal chords alive to the lead character in Wes Anderson’s stop motion version of Roald Dahl’s The Fantastic Mr. Fox. And joining him from the post-war Germany of The Good German is the lovely Cate Blanchett.
Clooney will play Mr. Fox, and Blanchett will be his wife. I have never read the original story, but apparently it has the very clever Mr. Fox outwitting a trio of stupid and nasty farmers in an attempt to save his family. Then he gets run down and killed in an incredibly unfair fox hunt designed to make up for the small penises of the British aristocracy.
Anderson is going to London to animate the film, but right now he’s in New York editing his latest live action movie, The Darjeeling Limited, which stars Natalie Portman, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman and is, I think, the adaptation of that American Express commercial he did.
