Here’s something cool. Warner Bros. and their WaterTower Music label are offering up 21 tracks sampling Danny Elfman’s new Dark Shadows score (link below). I’m listening to it right now and digging the shit out of it. It definitely has that familiar Elfman vibe to it, but there’re also some shenanigans going on here.

Having seen the trailer we know the film’s a comedy. Elfman apparently didn’t get the memo, because this is some creepy and atmospheric shit. This score would have been right at home in Burton’s Sleepy Hollow. Lava Lamp and House of Blood in particular are two tracks I want playing at my next Halloween party. I’m admittedly intrigued as to how this score plays in with the film’s overall tone but, regardless of the final product, the more I find out the more interested I become in seeing it.
