I’m a fan of some older sitcoms. There are a few that Nick at Nite just don’t play all that much anymore, so I barely get a chance to catch them. Luckily, NBC Universal have come up with a solution, in which I hope they expand on.

They just launched a new video service in the vein of YouTube, called DotComedy. The DotComedy site is as simple as you’d expect it to be. The main page lists the top five videos of the day, and some other viral videos. They pretty much have clips from everything you’d expect from NBC Universal: Conan, Letterman, viral videos, movie trailers, stand-up comedy, and even fan made videos. More importantly, to me at least, is the archive of old sitcoms.

This is the section I spent the most time in. They had episodes of The Munsters, Leave It To Beaver, and even Coach! I love Coach! They even had a few obscure shows that I had never heard of before, like Dream On. Regardless, they had some good stuff there. I hope they start adding more episodes soon.

I do a little stand-up comedy on the side (Note from Nick: And thusly setting up the cynical readers a perfect lay-up for any news article they find unfunny), so I also enjoyed the Stand-Up Straight portion of the site as well. They had some clips from Last Comic Standing, as well as full sets from some other pretty funny comics.

Of course, there are plenty of videos to re-live some of your favorite moments from TV Shows. I caught some old Letterman stuff from 1984 that was pretty funny. They also had the SNL skit about Apocalypto. Come on, that was hilarious.

I also like the fact that they are focusing on a lot of web-based content. According to the press release, they are rolling out a lot of original shows by the end of the year. And I mean a lot…there was close to fifteen on the list. NBC Universal is really setting the bar for web entertainment amongst the studios.

My only wish is that they’d expand the site a little more. Sure, there is a lot of stuff on there now, but I need more Coach, damn it! Since the site is still in its infancy, I’m sure more content will be uploaded soon.

In the mean time, be sure to check it out at www.dotcomedy.com.
