I am hesitant to report too much Watchmen news. I’ve been down this road before, and it all ended in tears. Paul Greengrass was very, very far along with his version of Watchmen when the plug got pulled, and until filming on Zack Snyder’s version starts I’m not getting to comfortable.
But Snyder et al keep plugging away. Before the holiday came the bad news that Snyder wants to film the Tales of the Black Freighter segments of the story – a comic within a comic which explores what kind of comic books a world with superheroes would have. Watchmen was commentary on the superhero comic book genre itself, and Tales of the Black Freighter were a part of that. But even within the Watchmen story the Tales sections were a touch superfluous, and they’ll be utterly pointless in a big screen version.
Today’s latest update from the Watchmen camp comes from Superhero Hype, which hears from a scooper that Adam Hughes has been hired to design the costumes for the film. If you’re not a comic reader, you may not know Adam Hughes’ work, and I think I can sum it up in one word: tits.
The guy is the go-to artist for hot chicks with big cans. And general cheesecake as well, I guess. Does this mean that Fat Nite Owl will have a plunging neckline to showcase his manboobs? If so, I am skipping ComiCon the year after this comes out, as I don’t need to see the legions of nerds in that particular outfit.
