While doing a phone interview with New York City morning DJs Scott and Todd, Prison Break star Dominick Purcell (also known as Blade: Trinity‘s awful Drake) was asked if it was true that he would be playing Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk, the sequel/reimagining to Ang Lee’s Hulk.
“Uuuuhhhhhhmmmmm,” Purcell said. Take that as you will. Check out the audio at Superhero Hype.
Time for my two cents: Purcell’s an awful choice for the role. Besides a gaping hole where his acting talent should be, Purcell’s too tough for Banner. I know that Zak Penn’s script is going to be using Bruce Jones’ first storylines as a jumping off point, and those comics have Banner on the run, deeply troubled and on the constant verge of breakdown, trying to contain the Hulk inside of him, but the guy’s still a scientist. I’m not convinced Purcell could spell scientist, let alone be one.
At Comic Con Edgar Wright came up with the idea of Simon Pegg playing Banner and morphing into Nick Frost as the Hulk. I don’t see why this needs to be discussed any further (although the idea of Jason Statham in both roles, the only difference being a coat of paint and ripped trousers, was also floated).
