Lauren Shuler Donner, producer of the X-Men films, talked to the LA Daily News about the future of the franchise and the spin-offs. The big thing holding X-Men 4 back (besides the fact that they totally promised us that the third one was the last one and they would never go against their word, right?) is that all the stars only signed on to three films, so they would need to be renegotiated, which won’t be cheap. "The newer cast members are signed, and the older cast members are not,” she tells the paper. Of course that leads to my idea for an which I am stupid enough to print here: X-Men 4,X-Men: The New Mutants. All you’d need was Hugh Jackman in a cameo appearance at the beginning and end of the film. Do it like Mutants Home Alone. It’s a billion dollar idea!
Speaking of Jackman: “Next, we’re going to do ‘Wolverine,’ but not before the end of the year because he’s in the Baz Luhrmann film,” Shuler Donner says of the filmmaker’s untitled Australian epic with Nicole Kidman. However, "We have the script and are working on it."
She also gives out the working title for the Magneto movie they have in development: Young Magneto. Maybe they could get Yahoo Serious for the role.
