Over at Guy, we had a feature called Guy’s Best Gal, where we would spotlight notable females from all walks of life, including an ’80s rocker, Vietnamese actress, a mistress of the dark, an Amazon superheroine and a female quarterback among several others. There was one completed entry left on the books before last call, so I thought I’d give it the light of day over here, considering that the subjects are ’80s TV, film and pinup hotties who should be well-known to anyone who was kicking around back then. Who knows, if it gets some decent response, maybe we’ll retool it for a migration over here to CHUD on at least a semi-regular basis. If not, hey, it was fun while it lasted. So for now, let’s call it Oliver’s Twists (suggested by Nick himself) and see where it goes from there.

Why They’re Oliver’s Twists:
For being undeniably the hottest pair of sisters on TV sets, film screens, magazine pages and wall posters in the 1980s. The Landers Sisters were staples of the decade in all of those mediums, particularly guest spots on TV and posters. Between the two, the sisters have amassed over a hundred TV and film credits. During the late ’70s and the ’80s, they were both seen individually and in tandem on such TV programs as The Jeffersons, Charlie’s Angels, Buck Rogers and the 25th Century, B.J. and the Bear, The Fall Guy, The Hitchhiker, Lottery!, Fantasy Island, Knight Rider, The A-Team, L.A. Law, Murder She Wrote, ALF, Night Court, Police Woman, Happy Days, Battlestar Galactica and MacGyver.
Audrey portrayed Afton Cooper on Dallas off and on from 1981 through a 1996 TV movie. She was also on Fantasy Island five times and The Dukes of Hazzard twice as two different characters, as well as The Love Boat four times. Judy had a recurring role on Vega$ as Angie Turner and on B.J. and the Bear as Stacks, as well as a regular role on the Wayland Flowers and Madame talk show, Madame’s Place. She was on Charlie’s Angels twice and was on Love Boat a ridiculous eight times, portraying seven different characters, including herself. Together, they worked in films such as The Tennessee Stallion, Our Voices Ourselves, Deadly Twins, Circus Camp, Ghost Writer and several episodes of Hollywood Squares. Audrey recently portrayed Bruce Campbell’s girlfriend, Veronica on episodes of Burn Notice.
The sisters both studied at the Juilliard School for Music; and Audrey studied psychology at Columbia University, while Judy studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, then attended the Warren Robertson Dramatic Training School. Aside from acting, Audrey has had a diverse career which includes film and TV production and a successful recording career, which produced 10 gold singles, 4 gold albums and 2 platinum albums. Audrey created the children’s educational program, The Huggabug Club and wrote many of the show’s scripts and composed over 250 songs for it. She has worked with her mother, producer Ruth Landers, both on Huggabug and in a successful clothing venture called Landers STAR Collection. Audrey, Judy and Ruth all produced the family adventure film, Circus Island, in 2006. Audrey and Judy posed together and were the cover girls in a non-nude pictorial in the January 1983 issue of Playboy. Judy has had the more quiet career outside of Hollywood, having been married since 1987. But she’s unleashed her daughters, Lindsey and Kristy back on Hollywood for a new Landers family assault. Audrey has a son, Daniel, who is an up-and-coming musician, having appeared on the British X-Factor.
The Landers Sisters succeeded in Hollywood like few siblings before or since. It was pretty hard to find a teenage boy’s room in the ’80s that didn’t have a poster of one or both of them, as they very also very successful pinups. So for being a double threat in a variety of media, CHUD throws some love toward Audrey and Judy Landers as Oliver’s Twists.
