You can stop guessing who will be playing the Silver Surfer in the new Fantastic Four movie (apparently titled The Fantastic Four and The Silver Surfer. Oopah) – director Tim Story tells Moviehole that the character is going to be computer generated.
“The Surfer will be a new CGI design being developed especially for the movie. It’s going to be incredible,” Story says.
Of course that doesn’t mean there will be no one beneath the Surfer’s digital domain – it’s quite likely this new CGI design being developed will be a form of motion capture, which was used to exceptional effect for the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. And the Surfer will also still need a voice.
The fact that he’s CGI is good news, though – I was really afraid of going to the theater and seeing a naked Vin Diesel covered in silver body paint. And that would be just running into him in the bathroom.
