It’s been a few years since I fit a trip to Montreal’s Fantasia into the hectic summer schedule (it takes place around the same time as Comic Con) but I’m anxious to head up there again, and movie line-ups like this year’s festival add to that anxiety.
For those who don’t know, Fantasia is a superb film festival that features loads of horror, sci-fi and action movies from any and all countries (except maybe Albania). This year they’ve got plenty of movies that deserve recommendation, like The Descent, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, A Bittersweet Life, and classic Shaw Brothers chopsockey such as Dirty Ho and The Five Venoms.
On top of that, they’ve got North American premieres and plenty of intriguing titles I’ve been dying to check out (especially for new Underground material), like Frostbite, The Gravedancers, Aziris Nuna, Meatball Machine, and… almost more than I can count.
So if you’re in the Montreal area or heading up next month, check out this film schedule — it might demand a trip to the greatest strip club-filled city of the North.
