It’s a big day for the (increasingly) poorly reviewed horror sequel that has prompted more “Yes, I totally get. It still sucks” reviews than I’ve ever seen published for a film. There’s definitely a consensus that Tom Six succeeds at making the difficult-to-endure, “fuck you” movie he wanted to make, but that the result is exceedingly boring. I haven’t seen for myself yet, but the film is opening in the US today at the following theaters, so you and I can venture out with the other weirdos now! The production wisely tossed out a new poster today, one which shows as much skin as it will make crawl on the people who don’t like thinking about bugs spelunking in their holes. I guess NSFW posters will increasingly be a thing for horror flicks– the marketing departments are figuring out the internet. Perhaps we will soon be returning to the nudity-filled one-sheets of yore!

So while the film opens in the US today (and hits VOD on the 20th), the film will also soon find it’s way into UK theaters, despite the much ballyhooed ultra-mega-double-secret ban placed on it by the UK Board of Film Classification. That notorious ruling condemned the film for,
“the explicit presentation of the central character’s obsessive sexually violent fantasies is in breach of its Classification Guidelines and poses a real, as opposed to a fanciful, risk that harm is likely to be caused to potential viewers.“
Well apparently they’ve cut the film down enough that it no longer poses a real threat to the sanity of the UK public, and it now bears an “18+” seal that will make it distributable.
I may well end up seeing the film this weekend, and if I do I will certain report back. Make sure you guys do the same!
