It’s become very clear to me that I need to see Hobo With A Shotgun again, having slept sometime in the preceding 48 hours. While I saw the film in absolute ideal circumstances at the Alamo Drafthouse with a roaring crowd and Eisener himself present, I was just so goddamned drained that I was blacking out during the whole film. I carry some guilt over that, as I know a lot of enthusiastic fans have only been able to appreciate the film on VOD, and damn if it doesn’t seem to have grown in esteem as a gory crowd-pleaser. I think Eisener will find that he’s built himself quite a cult audience by the time he releases his next film, to which we now know the title…
Blatant Violence High
This comes from HeyUGuys.UK who caught Karim Hussain (Hobo‘s cinematographer) talking about the next project, and dropping the aforementioned title. This joins tiny bits of info that Eisener himself has let slip about a school for hyper-violent students…
That’s our plan for our next feature. I guess a martial arts exploitation style movie. All I can say about it is, when all the worst students are kicked out of their schools they’re all brought to this one school that has the worst students in the world. And some pretty crazy shit goes down. It’s kind of like the world of Hobo with a Shotgun but in a high school.
He confirms that it will exist in the Hobo With A Shotgun universe (surely Rutger will have some kind of memorial mural somewhere in the school?). I think these are easy concepts to get excited about.
We’ll let you know when we start hearing about the film moving forward, especially when they get around to casting. Any ideas on great character actors that could play teachers or the principle at Blatant Violence High? Let us know in the comments below, on the boards, or on twitter.
