If the Farrelly Brothers had a new film in the works and no one cared, would it make a dime? This is the philosophical question that must be answered as the guys who were once the Kings of Modern Movie Comedy have slowly slid off the radar. Their last few films have been worse and worse, and now they’ve hit some sort of remake rut – Fever Pitch was a redo of a British film based on a book, their upcoming Heartbreak Kid is a remake of a 1972 movie, and their long in development Three Stooges film is essentially a meta-remake. Add one more to the list: The Valet.
The Valet is a French film released a scant three weeks ago, and it’s been a huge hit in its homeland. Of course Americans don’t want to have to read subtitles, so the Farrellys will be tackling it for Dreamworks after they finish The Heartbreak Kid.
And so the Brothers’ slide into mediocrity continues unabated…
