I wasn’t aware of this but in addition to the Vintage online exclusive DVD for the original Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark that came out last year, Warner Bros. has just put out a new special edition of the classic 1973 television classic with a commentary track featuring a few genre folks as well.
This is a remastered edition and most likely the best way to experience the film that caused ol’ Guillermo del Toro to shit his pants so much that he practically willed this month’s remake into existence. I don’t know if you know how the current film (which I am Associate Producer on) came into existence but to say it’s been a long gestating labor of love for the man would be an understatement.
For fifteen bucks the DVD can be all yours. It’s funny watching it now to see how alike and dissimilar the original and the remake are.
