We’ll have to wait a few months longer to witness the dusty lost culture of the Mayans.
Apocalypto, the upcoming film from hunky actor turned crazy bearded filmmaker Mel Gibson, is one of the first major releases to shift its release date. Originally slated for an August release, the Disney movie will now sacrifice humans on December 8th, evading the crowded summer schedule and putting it in prime position for awards season. Either that, or Mel needs more time for tiger wrangling and training his cast of unknown actors.
The movie, which involves huge temples and shirtless people running, is a historical action epic (from Mel’s own script) set around the end of an ancient civilization, told entirely in Mayan dialogue. Good family fun.
