This weekend you have the choice of an action-comedy or what is ostensibly a horror-comedy of the new films this weekend (we discuss both in this week’s video). Next weekend though, another action-comedy will hit the scene and though you can expect a review closer to release, let’s just say I wouldn’t run something like this for a film I didn’t think you should see.
The Fright Night remake is from director Craig Gillespie and stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Ferrell, Imogen Poots, and David Tennant. In addition to the review we’ll have some cool material to bring you, but I thought you might lend an en eyeball to a few things that escaped today…
First up is a simple clip from the film (via HitFix) that I think captures the creepy but vaguely funny tone of the film pretty well, and without spoiling much. Have at it…
Next up is something interesting, something you don’t see too often anymore: a tie-in music video (via MTV). This is a special duck though, as Gillespie lent his directing talents to this video itself, which seems to have been shot on the same or very similar locations as the actual film. There’s not a lot of cheesy footage integration, just a tone piece that is, well, a little melodramtically dull, but at least gives you an idea of the look of the film, if not the energy and fun of it. It’s an interesting approach to this sort of thing, so worth a few minutes.
Definitely look for more from Fright Night on CHUD next week…
