Before it even officially made it over here, cruelty master Park Chan-Wook’s Lady Vengeance (formerly Sympathy for Lady Vengeance) still made the Best of 2005 lists of Devin (HERE), Russ (HERE) and myself (HERE), because we’re the wily sorts, and prone to cheating.
Our friends at Tartan are bringing the tragic tale stateside, and it’ll probably show up on a few more "best of" lists for 2006 once a wider audience gets the opportunity to see it and weep.
The movie closes out Park’s thematically linked "revenge trilogy" following the shattering Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and the savage Oldboy, and revolves around a beautiful woman wrongly imprisoned for the murder of a child and her subsequent complex plans for retribution.
