Spike Lee hasn’t ventured often into the straight-up thriller genre aside from Girl 6, but the allure of Denzel Washington going tete-a-tete with Clive Owen while Jodie Foster does whatever is she does was enough for the heist flick Inside Man to steal the top spot from V for Vendetta.
The lethal videogame flick Stay Alive was killing close behind, while the week’s other new horror movie Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector only brought in $7 million (was there a big NASCAR race this weekend?).
Next week has the roller-rink pic ATL and a new Ice Age, while a pair of slimy parasites strike in Slither and Basic Instinct 2.
