Writing Challenge – Day 19: Something that shook your belief system to its core (a big disappointment in your life).
I think I’ve mentioned it before here: There’s a lot of wishful thinking and daydreaming involved in the arts, and I can confidently generalize by saying that those who choose a film career live with their heads in the clouds, regardless of how realistic they are or they claim to be. The biggest value of studying filmmaking for me was that it brought me back to reality. It was cruel and brutal, and it was terribly disappointing at times, but it was immensely educational, not just about filmmaking but also about my limitations, abilities, and capability for self destruction. Studying film ended up being a much needed journey of self discovery. My biggest disappointment would be my editing career for a myriad of reasons and quitting is probably the smartest decision I’ve made since I graduated. If something hurts you, it must be purged. Fortunately, there are other avenues to be explored.

Song Challenge – Day 19: A song from your favourite album.
Two albums I keep going back to are Babylon Zoo’s The Boy With The X-Ray Eyes and Sneaker Pimps’ Splinter. The first felt like good therapy, the second reflected how I felt at the time.
Animal Army – Babylon Zoo
