Even though nobody really seemed to think it was particularly funny as comedies go, the abs of Matthew McConaughey lured enough ladies and their dates to Failure to Launch, easily putting it on top. Duking it out for second place were two very different types of mutants, ones that rape and murder tourists and one that transforms into Tim Allen, but houndmen beat wasteland creeps and The Shaggy Dog defeats The Hills Have Eyes remake.
Despite his ragged appearance, Bruce Willis held up well in the second week walking 16 Blocks, while just about every other movie plunged 50% (or more) from last week. Not everything Johnny Depp turns to gold, either — the debauchery-filled period piece The Libertine landed outside the top 10.
Next week offers the questionably controversial V for Vendetta, while Vin Diesel wears Natalie Portman’s shorn locks in Find Me Guilty and Amanda Bynes gets mannish in She’s the Man.
