For the next 30 days I’ll torture you with my stupid answer to the writing prompts taken from the 30 Day Writing Challenge and the 30 Day Song Challenge. Here we go:
Writing Challenge – Day 16: A book you’ve read that changed your views on something.
None really. I’ve read books I’ve loved to dangerously obsessive levels, some have supported things I already believed in, some have taught me concepts I knew nothing about, but there isn’t one book that has changed my views about anything. When I was a child, my parents were into Deepak Chopra, so I was coerced into reading his work and many other self help books, but they basically had no effect on me. Strangely enough, a book on marketing (I think it’s called The 12 Rules of Marketing or something like that) taught me more about interacting with my fellow humans than any of those self help books, yet I’m still socially retarded. The genre that’s had the biggest impact on me has been cyberpunk. I don’t even know why, but I feel like I would operate better if I lived in a cyberpunk world. But I digress…
For a long time I only read screenplays. Every single one of them that had onomatopoeia made me realize how much I hate onomatopoeia in screenplays and hope to never use it if I get back on that horse. Whenever I see a BAM, a WOOSH, or any other classic batmanesque expressions in a story, I feel like stabbing my eyes with forks.
Song Challenge – Day 16: A song that you used to love but now hate.
I actually can’t think of any.
