The threat of General Zod clearly requires a few good soldiers, and Man of Steel is casting them in spades. According to Variety, Harry Lennix has signed on to play General Swanwick.
Lennix’s name has been floating around the Superman rumor mill. Latino Review reported that he had been offered a role the same time as Russell Crowe, but it was unknown what it would be. Now we know! And…well, ok, it’s not that mind-blowing but the pieces are coming together. After all, there’s no General Swanwick in the Superman canon, so even if Zack Snyder is reusing a villain, we’re clearly treading into some unknown waters. I’m willing to bet Christopher Meloni’s general is an original creation as well, and not Sam Lane.
It certainly is an unusual and exciting cast. I’m anxious to see this Superman take flight. I’m ready to see what this combination actually makes…
