Warning! This article contains spoilers for Battlestar Galactica’s final few episodes of this season.
Battlestar Galactica’s second season is ending on a big note – a two part story with a 90 minute finale. Someone on the CHUD Message Boards recently lamented that the Sci-Fi Channel doesn’t do what ABC does with Lost, allowing the show to run longer than normal on occasion. Looks like they heard ya.
The finale, airing Friday March 10th, will feature the long-awaited presidential election, which will pit Baltar against Roslin. Things get complicated when the ragtag fleet discovers an inhabitable planet, and many of the Colonials want to abandon the search for Earth and just get a little goddamn sunshine. Making things even trickier is the fact that Six and Sharon from Caprica are already on this planet – and they’re making a shocking peace offering.
Could Baltar, who recently gave a nuke to a Cylon, win the election? With this show, anything is possible, especially if it causes serious trouble for our heroes. Season three of Battlestar starts filming in Vancouver this April, and I assume the show will return to the air this summer. It’s recently been announced that Lucy Lawless has signed on to a ten episode arc for season three, and knowing her character’s secret, I have to guess some juicy stuff is going to happen.
