For the next 30 days I’ll torture you with my stupid answer to the writing prompts taken from the 30 Day Writing Challenge and the 30 Day Song Challenge.  Here we go:

Writing Challenge – Day 4:  Something that is part of your routine that you enjoy.

Writing.  I never thought I’d develop a liking for this.  As a kid, I hated writing mostly because I sucked at it.  Then I surprisingly ended up being competent at writing technical documents in College.  When I was in film school, I enrolled in a screenwriting class out of fear of having an incomplete education without it and was surprised about how much I enjoyed it.  If at this point I’m remotely competent as a writer is because of my time blogging for CHUD.com.  After many tries with different blogs, CHUD gave me focus.  I haven’t been entirely successful at it but that’s on me.

Writing is an interesting process, not always enjoyable, occasionally easy, and sometimes conducive to learning new things.  But every time I finish writing, regardless of the result, I feel good.  It’s nice.

At the risk of sounding like a crazy cat lady, the other part of my routine that I enjoy is being with my cat, Maria Antonia.  She’s been with me for 7 ½ years.  She’s a diva, she’s my pal, and I adore her, even if she ruins my clothes with her excessive leftover hair.

Song Challenge – Day 04 – A song that makes you sad.

There are no songs that make me sad, but there are many songs and albums that make me melancholic.  For instance, Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Dark Side of The Moon, Sneaker Pimps’ Splinter, and anything Radiohead pre Kid A get me in a weird funk.

Three songs that I love but kill me are the final three tracks from The Raindeer Section’s Son of Evil Raindeer, particularly the last one.

The Reindeer Section – You Are My Joy

The Reindeer Section – Who Told You

The Reindeer Section – Whodunnit?
