Empire has a new gorgeous shot of Sir Ian McKellan as Gandalf on their new cover as well as a reverse of the shot of Bilbo as featured in a recent EW and it makes it very hard for me to not start warming up to the whole concept of The Hobbit.
As a huge fan of the original Lord of the Rings movies, this has always felt like having the appetizer after the main course to me.
That said, there’s no denying that Peter Jackson and his merry band of collaborators are maintaining the tone, look, and feel of the original films to a “T” here and undoubtedly as new images arrive and eventually some footage… myself and many of you will be in a thrall.
I’m anxious to see how much of Guillermo del Toro’s prep makes its way into what shows up onscreen but there’s a certain “Ace up our Sleeve” vibe to knowing that whatever adaptations and remakes and sequels that are in the pipeline we have this pretty sure thing slowly lumbering towards us.
