I’m pretty sure I read about this casting sometime not too long ago, but I guess it’s only now been confirmed by the hierarchs over at Variety, which is good. Now I can copy and paste this info for the edification of the masses!
Anyway, motion capture superstar Andy Serkis has now joined the already pretty impressive cast of Christopher (Memento, Batman Begins) Nolan’s upcoming dueling magician flick, The Prestige. The movie (in which the title apparently refers to "the residue left after a magician’s successful trick" – there’s a good penis joke in there somewhere, I’m sure) stars Nolan’s Batman veterans Christian Bale and Michael Caine, the cooler than you David Bowie, and the one-two punch of hotness that is Scarlett Johansson and Piper Perabo (insert penis/residue joke here). Serkis will be playing the assistant to David Bowie’s magician. More than likely not in a mocap suit. One would hope.
The Prestige, based off of Christopher Priest’s novel of the same name (and being adapted by Christopher Nolan’s brother Jonathan whose short story was the basis for the great Memento), is currently filming in Pasadena, CA of all places (see some photos of Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale in their magic man duds here and here) and is set for release sometime later this year. Can’t wait.
