The Superhero genre is really transforming into something different this year as the $200m blockbusters start traveling into the cosmos and period environments, and the independent scene starts reinterpreting the idea of a superhero on a much more intimate level. In fact, at the same time James Gunn was starting the ball rolling on his gritty, street-level superhero flick Super at SXSW, the Trost siblings were getting attention for their bizarre, potentially brilliant film The FP, about life-or-death DDR tournaments in a vaguely post-apocalyptic world. Following up that slice of craziness, Jason Trost already has a new film called VS ready to go- he’s the writer, director, and star.
The synopsis is simple…
“Four Super Heroes find themselves abducted by their Arch Nemesis and are forced to compete in a series of challenges in order to save an abandoned town full of kidnapped innocent civilians.”
