Apparently there’s a hot new movie monster in Hollywood, and his name is Frankenstein. According to Deadline, Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures is firing up the laboratory to create The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein, based on the Peter Acrkroyd novel with a script by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright David Auburn. Meanwhile, Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the terrifying Twilight series, is ready to curdle our blood again with the absurdly titled Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein. It’s an adaptation of a novel by Kenneth Oppel and will hopefully have the shiniest Frankenstein monster to date.
Not enough Frankenstein for you? Not to worry, Universal is still actively developing Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankie film, there’s a contemporary take set up at Columbia, and even Slash from Gun’s n’ Roses has his finger in the Frankenstein pie with Wake the Dead, which is based on a Steve Niles graphic novel. Expect to be up to your eyeballs in Frankenstein by 2013, provided these projects are all brought to life.
