Good news! Deadline is reporting that good ol’ Lionsgate has picked up distribution on Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon’s The Cabin in the Woods. Shelved since 2009, the flick features soon to be star Chris (Thor) Hemsworth, Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford, whom I’m assuming is not the same Bradley Whitford who plays rhythm guitar for Aerosmith. Though that would be awesome.
I know a few details about the script that I won’t spoil; let’s just say it promises to be more than just your average Cabin in the Woods. The film was post-converted to 3D by MGM, but I’m hoping Lionsgate has the good sense not to bother with that crap. I’m also hoping Lionsgate puts it out this year, preferably around Halloween, because I’m not that in to the interminably dull Paranormal Activity franchise. Fingers crossed.
